Though we've produced all sorts of bright ideas and suggestions for dozenal digits and names, devised all our clever metrological schemes for base twelve, and even sketched out imaginative ideas for artifacts needed for base twelve, (clock faces, scales and so on) ... we haven't written anything special about the implications of the change of number base we advocate.
What would a base twelve world be like?
In the following pages we'll explore living with the new base, leaving all ties to base ten, almost like a stranger in a foreign land. Just like learning a foreign language we will have to learn a new vocabulary, and if it's a foreign land we'd have different units of measurement, money and the like. How would one add, subtract, multiply, divide, measure distance, weight, and temperature?
